Climate Change and Sustainability at UGA Costa Rica
presented by Dr. Quint Newcomer, Director of UGA Costa Rica campus
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Quint Newcomer serves as Director of University of Georgia Costa Rica and came to the University of Georgia in September 2005 from the Yale University School of Forestry, where he earned a Master of Environmental Management and a Ph.D. in Social Ecology, studying market incentive mechanisms for private forestland conservation in Costa Rica. Past work that overlaps with the mission of the Initiative for Climate & Society includes development and implementation of the UGA Costa Rica carbon offset program; development and oversight of the annual UGA Costa Rica Campus Sustainability Report; development of a long-term collaborative research initiative on Pajaro Campana Biological Corridor in Costa Rica, including climate change impacts on the corridor; and recent publications on ecosystem services.
